Description

ROVR TarantulaX — Dual‑Band RTK GNSS Receiver

Add lane‑level positioning to your drives: TarantulaX pairs with the ROVR app to deliver ±2 cm RTK accuracy via dual‑band GNSS (L1/L5) and GEODNET corrections. A 6‑axis IMU stabilizes positioning, hardware‑level encryption signs data for trusted workflows, and the IP67 housing with magnetic roof mount is built for daily use. Supports NMEA/RTCM3.2 for RTK/PPK workflows.

Key benefits

  • Centimeter‑level precision: ±2 cm (RTK fix) with dual‑band L1/L5
  • Simple pairing: low‑power Bluetooth to the ROVR Network app (iOS/Android)
  • Secure by design: hardware encryption for signed/verified data
  • Field‑ready: IP67 enclosure and magnetic roof mounting (NdFeB)
  • Flexible workflows: NMEA & RTCM 3.2 (RTK/PPK)

What’s in the box

  • TarantulaX device (integrated magnetic base; USB‑powered)

Setup at a glance

  1. Place TarantulaX on the car roof (clear sky view); power from a 5 V USB port/charger.
  2. Install the ROVR Network app, pair over Bluetooth, and follow in‑app calibration.
  3. The app requests GEODNET RTK corrections and streams them to the device.
  4. Start mapping or surveying with centimeter‑level positioning.

Power & notes

Powered via 5 V USB; rated IP67. Mount on the roof for best RTK reception. The ROVR app (iOS available; Android public testing) handles pairing, corrections, and data upload.

How accurate is TarantulaX?

With RTK fixed, horizontal accuracy is about ±2 cm when used with dual‑band L1/L5 and proper mounting/sky view.

Does it use GEODNET for RTK?

Yes. The ROVR app sends GGA to the GEODNET NTRIP server to receive RTCM corrections, which are applied on the device to achieve centimeter‑level positioning.

Which phones and app do I need?

Use the ROVR Network app. iOS is available via the App Store; Android is in public testing (APK via the ROVR site). Pair over Bluetooth and follow the in‑app calibration.

Where should I install the device?

On the vehicle roof using the integrated magnet, with a clear sky view. Roof‑mounting materially improves GNSS signal quality and thus RTK reliability.

Is it weatherproof and how is it powered?

Yes — rated IP67. Power from a standard 5 V USB port or car charger.

Can I earn tokens with TarantulaX?

ROVR rewards contributors in $ROVR based on mapped kilometers and data quality. Per ROVR Tokenomics (as of 2025‑07), the base rate starts at 1.6 ROVR/km for TarantulaX and halves annually; rules for data quality and revisits apply. No earnings are guaranteed.

Does it output standard GNSS formats?

Yes — it supports NMEA and RTCM 3.2 for RTK/PPK workflows.
